The Inertia

As our lives evolve, we all go through times we can look back on and reflect to where we are now in the present. When I first started doing surf video work in the mid-’90s, Andy Irons was one of my main subjects and favorite surfers. He had this fresh attitude that would carry him into the future to go up against the top of the class in surfing. I remember walking into his little Pinetrees beach house and being in awe of the laid back vibe. When I first started doing surf video work in the mid-’90s, Andy Irons was one of my main subjects and favorite surfers. Of all the shots and clips I captured, the Eddie event in 2009 was the highlight of my career, because of Andy Irons. Although he is not physically with us, I always feel his spirit and hear his voice in my ear saying “Brah, what, let’s go surf already!” Here are some great moments that Andy left us to enjoy.

Aloha to Andy, his family and friends. Enjoy the feature of photos. Check out more from Tupat on his blog.

Thank you to all who shared their thoughts on the second anniversary of Irons’ passing. Read Keala Kennelly’s moving tribute to Andy Irons here and Kelly Slater’s piece here.
