Balaram Stack is a New Yorker, through and through. But the Big Apple ain’t exactly a surfer’s paradise–long, cold winters filled with fickle waves and a million reasons not to surf. But he loved it. “My favorite thing about surfing in New York is the seasons and having that variety of freezing cold, adventurous snowy weather,” he says. “Getting ridiculous barrels and then having board shorts in the summer and having the best of both worlds.”
For the last few years, Stack’s been stacking up the clips in waves all over the world. Home, though, is still home… and when the waves turn on, Balaram will be there.
