Pedro Calado is by no means a household name surfer. But when a big swell hits a far-off part of the world with the world’s best XXL surfers in attendance, the Brazilian is there, too. And Pedro has made a name for himself, hucking his body over nasty ledges and occasionally sticking it.
This time, however, he did not.
During the recent super swell out at Pe’ahi, Pedro did what most people don’t, and went for a left. He positioned himself perfectly, but the wall of water was just too fast for him to outrun. Soon he was swallowed whole by the wave towering at skyscraper heights. And this isn’t the first time Pedro has had an insane wipeout. There was his cartwheel at Jaws and then his epic faceplant at Puerto Escondido. It’s amazing the guy still has the balls to go out and do what he does after such brutal beatings.
