For the uninitiated, surfing in Israel may have a novel connotation. In other words, surfing is possible there but certainly not preferable. Most who haven’t been have preconceived notions of surfing in the Med, mostly based in a rough understanding of surf forecasting. That is, as a small body of water the Mediterranean produces limited fetch and, therefore, small waves. Or so you’d think. Israeli surfers don’t seem to mind their country hasn’t become a run-of-the-mill surf destination. On the contrary, they bask in the solitude that comes from knowing their coastline does in fact get waves, good ones at that.
