Cyclones are strange things. They can be devastating, of course, but there is often a silver lining: really good waves. Kirra, as you know, is world-class on a regular swell. But when Cyclone Uesi ran into it, things went next-level. “By the break of dawn,” Aussie Surf Clips wrote, “dreams had turned into reality as cyclone Uesi began sending relentless rows of choc-colored drainpipes past the Superbank straight into the open arms off Kirra, which turned on an all-time barrel fest.

“All-time” is a big claim… but in this case, it is the right claim to make.
