You know those days you have where everything just seems to work? The waves are good, but that’s not even it. It’s something in YOU. Your feet are landing in the exact right place. Your turns feels crisper than usual. Waves are just coming to you. Back in November — which feels like a hundred years ago — Kelly Slater was in Bali, and he had a day like that.
It was a little before traveling during a global pandemic became almost commonplace, so we sent him a quick note to see if he’d explain the ins and outs of flying from one country to another while a virus was running amok. Kelly didn’t respond, so over the next few weeks, we just sat and watched Surfers of Bali’s YouTube clips of Slater doing surfy things at surfy places. Now, of course, Kelly is in Hawaii for the Pipeline Masters, but back on November 6, he seemed to be particularly in sync with Uluwatu.
