Traveling with surfboards is never fun. It’s expensive, depending on the airline. Board bags are bulky, and for some reason, not every bag is a wheelie bag. That seems like a ridiculous oversight, but here we are. And after you’ve lugged your bag around for miles, paid the exorbitant fees, and landed safely at your destination, it’s still a coin toss whether your boards will arrive at all — or intact. Such was the case for Victoria Vergara, who recently entrusted her surfboards with KLM on her way to Indonesia. KLM appeared not to like her surfboards all that much, because they didn’t just ding them, they snapped them clean in two. That, if you’re not aware, is bad for surfboards.
