Candide Thovex in a chute in Les Tufs

If there’s even a hint of snow, Thovex is sending it. Photo: YouTube//Screenshot

The Inertia

Candide Thovex is one of the world’s greatest skiers. He does things on two planks that no one else does. Plus he does the things that everyone else does, but way better than most. He skis on snow, of course, but when the snow isn’t available, he skis anyway. And when spring is springing, snow can be in high demand.

Thovex has spent his career doing things that can hurt him, and they have. The Flying Frenchman has broken plenty of bones. Had plenty of concussions. Hell, after one particularly bad accident, he was told he’d never ski again. But Thovex didn’t listen, and he’s still laying down edits like the one you see here.

Filmed in his home range in Tignes, France, Thovex takes on a few steep and dry lines in the iconic terrain of Les Tufs. It’s a wild ride that’s only really suitable for someone like Thovex… unless you’re just watching.
