On Friday, September 13th, we celebrated our third birthday at B_Space in Venice, CA. It was very fun.
Three years ago, we nervously pushed the big red button for this interweb idea to go live, and in that time span we’ve grown tremendously. Now, we reach 200,000 people monthly. We have more than 500 of the most talented people in the world of surfing contributing interesting ideas, photography, art and opinions daily. And we love it.
On Friday, we premiered a collaboration film with Surfrider Foundation that we’ve been working on for nearly eight months called Martin’s Five: Battle for the Beach that raises awareness for beach access issues in America. We hosted a silent auction powered by The Canvas Wave of some of our very favorite photos by Nate Smith, Matt Clark, and Bryce Johnson. Kona Brewing Co. was generous enough to provide us with beer. Bradford Rockwell provided dance tunes. Designer Wyatt Conlon made us a gorgeous flyer. B_Space provided an amazing space and positive energy. The 200ish amazing people who came by provided love and smiles.
So, again, it was very fun to take an evening to celebrate. We hope to have many more. And don’t worry, we’re back to work now.
