In 2000, Ben left the finance industry to score his “dream job” of becoming the Deputy Editor of Australia’s biggest surfing magazine, Tracks. Since then he’s combined his passions for surfing, traveling, and writing into a business designed to max all three. He has been a senior contributor to all the significant surf print and digital publications around the world and the World Surf League. His travel writing, primarily based around skiing and snowboarding, has been published in major mainstream titles including The Guardian, The Daily Telegraph, and The Times. He has authored books on mountain biking, snowboarding and surfing.
As a broadcaster, he anchors the WSL’s live TV coverage of all the major European surfing events including the Nazare Tow Challenge and Challenger Series tournaments. He was the BBC’s Olympic Surfing commentator having covered its debut at Tokyo 2020, and compères live corporate events, film premieres, summits, and panel discussions.Born in Newcastle, Australia, he has been living in Europe with his English wife and two children since 2006, not quite long enough to lose his Aussie accent and love of a laugh. His passion for surfing hasn’t diminished, even if his ability to do it has.
