The Inertia

As Hurricane Sandy blistered up the coast to New Jersey – making landfall in Ocean City, I cruised by the beach looking for some good vantage points, and I mostly just stared at these bomb sets rolling through while getting soaked. The cops were everywhere telling people to get off the boardwalks, go home, etc…

I didn’t see as many news crews as I thought I might, but they were cruising here and there. The storm hasn’t fully hit yet; the wind is picking up now and rattling the windows a bit. There were few trees down in my neck of the woods. I expect tomorrow’s jaunt to have a bit more destruction on display as the winds kick up substantially overnight. I’m hoping everyone stays safe and Sandy treads lighter than expected.

Some have estimated that Sandy, which was downgraded from a hurricane to a post-tropical cyclone, will cause more than $20 Billion in damages. More than five million people are now without power, and there have been seven deaths recorded as a result of the storm.
