Earlier this year Donavon Frankenreiter tried something a little different. He had set out to record his 8th album as a solo artist and figured after 13 years of doing this it was time to bring his sound and feel full circle. So he and his crew packed into a studio in Texas for ten days, pumping out ten new tracks for The Heart. Only this time the twist in it all was the entire week and a half was broadcast live to give everybody a behind the scenes look at the whole creative process. The video for Big Wave is all highlights from those days in the studio, cranking away track after track.
So while Donny’s first single, Big Wave, may not show off a bunch of the groovy cutbacks we remember from the Drive Thru movies it is a fun little look into his life as a musician now. He’s on the road virtually year round, but at least we all know that even when he’s locked in a studio in the middle of Texas he’s always the same old Donny.
