Bells Beach is not a high-performance wave. The iconic walls aren’t the best for new-school aerialists, but what they are good for is raw power surfing. When a massive swell slammed the famed spot, every surfer in the water was beyond excited. While John John Florence stole the show and rang the bell, brutal beatings and amazing performances were not in short supply. Conner Coffin is a man who leans heavily towards the power-surfing side of the spectrum. But you’ve seen him surf many times before, and as impressive as it is, the high point in this vlog comes at the 6:40 mark. It’s an amazing little jam session with Tom Curren.
