If you are of the age where you grew up watching surf films, you know how different our media consumption is nowadays. For the most part, the full length surf film has become an outlier, replaced by 15 second Instagram clips watched on a tiny, flickering screen. One of the best parts of those surf films was the wipeout reel that often came at the end. Much like a Hollywood film’s blooper reel, the wipeouts were always something to look forward to. Which is why the We Bodyboard YouTube channel put one together, starring a pile of insanely good bodyboarders.
“You spoke and we listened,” We Bodyboard wrote. “Many of you have requested here is the fourth in a series of slam sections from the We Bodyboard archives. Featuring the heaviest slabs, biggest sends, and craziest chaotic sessions from our hard drives.”
It’s a bit of a who’s who of both waves and riders. Teahupo’o, The Right, Shark Island, Puerto Escondido, as well as wild slabs from all over the Australian coastline. Shane Ackerman, Manea Fabisch, Max Dodshon, Davis Blackwell, John Showell, Isaac Cruz, and many more surfers and bodyboarders can all be seen here, throwing caution to the wind and copping the worst wipeouts in hopes of getting just one good wave.
