Board meetings aren’t usually thought of as something fun. But if your “board meeting” takes place in crystal-clear waters and includes good friends and a few foil boards, well, that’s a whole different story.
Adam Bennetts, a guy who appears to basically live on a foil, recently dropped this calming little video on his YouTube channel, and it’s hard to watch without feeling some kind of way. In my case, the way is the color green, but envy works well if it gives you a nudge to do something similar.
“It doesn’t get much better than this,” Bennetts wrote. “I love home!”
Bennetts, who grew up riding a regular surfboard, turned to the foil after a a stint in Bali. Surprisingly, when he first saw footage of someone riding a foil, he thought it looked a little… bland. But when he got on one for the first time after moving home to Australia, the trajectory of his wave-riding career changed. Now, it’s all he does. He excels in all conditions, from the dreamy ones you see here to bigger days at Uluwatu.
“I foil exclusively these days,” Bennetts told The Inertia last year. “In fact, I haven’t ridden a surfboard in nearly six years since I started foiling (except for two waves at Uluwatu last month). I am at the point now that I can pretty much surf a foil like a surfboard and so to me, it feels like surfing and it just feels so much better in every element. It’s like surfing on steroids.”
