The Inertia

Anybody else still on a high from watching the Tahiti Pro? Yeah, we are too. The spectacle that is Teahupo’o is one that’s worth being glued to your desktop or mobile screen for a few days.

Frustrations with webcast technical issues aside, surf fans were treated to a glorious viewing of the world’s heaviest wave with the world’s best surfers on it. However, there is clearly one glaring omission from all things World Tour these days and that’s two-time champ John Florence.

Perhaps John John reads minds and knows exactly how many people would have loved to see him put on a show this week, so he’s indulged us with a throwback to 2011 when the then 18-year-old John John was already dominating at Chopes. On a trip with the brothers Florence, Albee Layer recalls this single session some eight years ago where Nathan and John put on quite the free surf performance.
