Asher Pacey is an interesting guy. In the surfing world, style means a lot. It’s kind of indefinable, but you’d be hard pressed to find someone who doesn’t think Pacey’s style is a good one. Smooth, fast, and powerful, he seems to use the wave better than just about anyone else. Nothing is forced. No movements are wasted. His style is surprisingly simple, which is generally the case with the best styles. And where better than a big, wide open canvas to showcase that style?
In this 10-minute video from Album Surf, Pacey takes a few boards through their paces at firing Bells. The first is a 6’4″ Moonstone, the second is a 5’6″ twinzer called the Lightbender, and the third is a 5’4″ Sunstone. Pacey’s approach suits all of these boards just about perfectly, and if you, like me, enjoy watching someone surf the way waves are supposed to be surfed, you’ll watch this.
