In a world where nearly every surf break is mapped and surveiled, the only remaining places to explore are obscured by harsh extremes. It’s one reason why we’ve seen a number of expeditions in recent years to the arctic, where difficult travel and frigid waters make it surfing’s final frontier. Blair Conklin recently answered the call of the frozen north, as he recounted in the latest video on his YouTube channel.
The video is also a love letter of sorts. Not to Alaska itself, but the way they traveled through it. The Milo was their transport and home for the course of the expedition, as its crew shepherded Conklin and company through the frigid wilds.
“The last video of the Alaska series highlights The Milo and its people,” explains Conklin in the caption. “When we weren’t scoring an empty point break to ourselves this is what we were doing. So many amazing places to explore and always an opportunity to get in the water and enjoy. This is just the beginning of many more surfing trips to Alaska. We are headed back next week and have some awesome videos planned that are going to be way different from our time on the Milo.”
