Jared Mell’s approach to the traditional longboard genre is one of cosmic defiance. That is, he does things that, best we can tell, shouldn’t be possible given the rigidity of the laws of physics. Not least of which is the soulyest of soul arches right around the 2:09 mark (above). If you’ve ever awoken with back pain, that one’ll make your spine crack vicariously.
Recently, photographer/videographer Andrea Coleman was on site at the annual Noosa Festival and managed to catch flashing glimpses of Mell in the wild. We have to imagine that behind every great soul arch, and Mell’s is no exception, there’s a world-class chiropractor.
