When Ireland gets mad, it’s a scary place for a surfer. Mullaghmore isn’t to be taken lightly when it’s big, and Nic Von Rupp knows that. He’s been surfing there every now and again for nearly a decade, and his most recent vlog documents one such trip that he took earlier this year. He, along with Francisco Porcella, Andrew Cotton, Jerome Sahyoun, Barry Mottershead, Tom Lowe, and Conor Maguire, faced the blustery weather and freezing water to find a whole pile of cold, windy, gnarly slabs. “Ireland is a very special place,” Von Rupp wrote. “Cold, moody, heavy… It takes a lot to turn ON, but when it does, it has some of the world’s heaviest waves.”
