Trestles vs. Toll roads. Ding! Round two!

The Transportation Corridor Authority (TCA), the authoritative agency in charge of the toll roads around Southern California, is at it again trying. Their efforts to begin construction on the first phase of the foothill corridor are endless! This most recent effort was in the way of a second application for a water quality permit, the same permit that was already previously denied.

The TCA is trying to complete the northern half of the project, The Tesero Extension, which runs from where it now ends at Oso Parkway to Cow Camp Road in the vicinity of Ortega Highway, in hopes that they can complete the whole project which would essentially divide San Onofre State Beach and interfere with some of Southern California’s inhabited wetlands.  For years, the Surfrider Foundation, California State Parks Foundation, and countless others, along with the efforts of surfers from around Sourthern California, have fought hard and long to preserve the coast.

But once again, we need everyone’s help — on March 16, the San Diego regional board meets to finalize the decision.

An easy start to getting involved is telling the San Diego Regional Water Board to stop the Foothill Tollroad.
