Kelly Slater has his pick of lineups. He can basically go anywhere he wants whenever he wants. If following the tour around the world gets old, Slater has proven he’s not afraid to simply bow out with no repercussions. And recently, his lineup of choice was the Wai Kai wave pool in West Oahu.

Located in the Hoakalei Resort in Ewa Beach, Wai Kai is a big standing wave. It’s relatively deep (so you can use fins), spanning some 100 feet and based off the CityWave tech (similar to the feature in Lake Chelan, Washington). The wave size ranges from two feet to head high at the push of a button.

Kelly Slater, as you know, is a bit of a wave-pool influencer. His wave at the Surf Ranch turned the world upside down when footage was first released, but Slater isn’t one of those people who’s only going to ride his own wave. Nathan Fletcher, Ross Williams, and a handful of others were there to try out Oahu’s newest wave, and judging from the footage, they had a blast doing it.
