Back in the fall of 2016, ski legend Candide Thovex hooked up with Audi to shoot a commercial. Filmed in the French Alps, it was Thovex’s first full video shot outside of the snow. And, like any other film that revolves around a person throwing themselves down something steep and going as fast as they can, there were outtakes. Now, for the first time, those outtakes are on YouTube, courtesy of the Thovex team.
According to Thovex, the Audi Quattro campaign was what paved the way to the Ski the World Project, which included skiing on water, skiing on sand, skiing on the Great Wall of China, and pretty much just skiing on anything that he could slide on.
While it’s generally accepted that these kinds of videos weren’t shot in one go, it’s always impressive to see just how much goes into making them… especially how much the athlete needs to risk life and limb.
