Did we really just blast through the first month of 2022? Before we move on to February, lets review. This month has been all about big winter waves, big snow and big events that just keep on rolling. In that vein, welcome to the Weekly Wrap, where The Inertia’s Juan Hernandez will wrap up all the best stories from surf and snow on our site each week.
So what went down? Vans crowned its Triple Crown winners, the current world champion pulled out of the WSL’s championship tour, and Sage Kotsenburg and Elena Hight grabbed Natural Selection Tour wins in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
From our staff of writers and editors, Ben Mondy deftly profiled Portuguese charger Nic von Rupp, Owen James Burke looked at gentrification in New York’s Rockaways, while Hernandez and Will Sileo debated localism on our Split Peak podcast.
On the viral side, readers were psyched on the team at Black Crows Skis’ exploration of an abandoned Alberta ski resort and everyone wanted to watch the drone footage from Waimea that illustrated what it means to get caught inside on a set there (ugh).
Look for Juan’s Weekly Wrap each week here at The Inertia.
