The Inertia

For about a year now, a drone pilot named Shaun Petersen has been sitting on footage that he filmed during one of the most insane days ever at Cape Solander. The place, also known as “Ours,” is not a wave for the faint of heart even on the best of days. But when it gets like this? It’s a surprise that anyone goes near it.

“When this dropped into the [WeBodyboard] inbox I was left in disbelief,” wrote Jason Kempshall, the guy behind the Webodyboard YouTube channel. “We have all seen bits of this session from Tim [Bonython] and the individual riders, but to see the whole day from start to finish is something else! Legendary drone pilot Shaun Petersen has been quietly sitting on this footage for almost a year… and BOY was it worth the wait.”

Some of Australia’s biggest chargers tackled the day head on, and to see them in the mix at one of the world’s heaviest waves when it’s about as big as it can get is pretty damn breathtaking.

“Only the bravest (and maddest) need apply!” Kempshall finished.
