Trump: “I hate sharks!”
World: “Let’s help sharks!”

The Inertia

According to MarketWatch, since an interview with Trump was published in which he said he hated sharks, a flood of donations to shark advocacy groups have been received under his name. The Atlantic White Shark Conservancy, WildAid program Shark Savers, and Sea Shepherd Conservation Society have all noticed an uptick in charitable donations that referenced Trump. The Shark Research Institute also told reporters that Lola, a 13-foot white shark, was adopted under Trump’s name.

Although you may have heard about the President’s torrid (alleged, of course) affair with a certain porn star, it’s related to this whole shark thing. One of the things that point to the truth of the alleged affair is a plethora of weird little facts that Stormy Daniels just so happens to know about President Trump‚ like the fact that he’s terrified of sharks. According to Stormy Daniels, he said that he hoped that “all the sharks die.”

“He is obsessed with sharks. Terrified of sharks,” Daniels said in a 2011 interview with In Touch about the affair. “He was like, ‘I donate to all these charities and I would never donate to any charity that helps sharks. I hope all the sharks die.’ He was like riveted. He was like obsessed. It’s so strange, I know.”

Then, since the internet is the deepest well of everyone’s skeletons, someone found some old tweets from President Trump regarding sharks. “Sorry folks, I’m just not a fan of sharks – and don’t worry,” he wrote, “they will be around long after we are gone.” Then this, too: “Sharks are last on my list – other than perhaps the losers and haters of the World!”

Now the whole thing seems to be gaining steam, prompted by Twitter users around the world who have taken it upon themselves to spread the word:

and this one:

President Trump, merely by saying he hates sharks, kickstarted a movement that helps sharks. Oh, the irony! He’s Making America Great Again, one shark at a time.
