The X Games League (XGL) announced its inaugural winter season schedule with three events across North America and Europe. The announcement comes right as the new team-focused X Games prepares for its winter league draft in Los Angeles.
The XGL winter season will open January 29-31 at Buttermilk in Aspen, Colorado, where the original Winter X Games have traditionally been held. XGL then moves on to Calgary, Alberta, Canada, February 19-21, then heads overseas to Ruka, Finland, April 9-11, for the final event of the inaugural X Games League winter season. Four franchises will be competing through all three stops — XC Golden State, XC New York, XC Park City and XC Whistler. Each roster will be set at the X Games League draft on September 16. XGL says more than 100 ski and snowboard athletes have been approved for the draft, but only 40 will be placed on the four rosters.

“The league gives every X Games result meaning beyond the individual athlete and a single weekend,” said Jeremy Bloom, CEO of X Games. “Every performance now scores points for a club, building rivalries and a championship race across the entire season. Aspen, Calgary and Ruka give us three incredible stages to bring that vision to life.”
The league’s general managers will be Jonny Moseley (XC Golden State), Dave Sypniewski (XC New York), Sharalee “Haze” Hazen (XC Park City), and Ryan Stutt (XC Whistler).
