On November 21st, Adam Coleman and Dean Lucas were murdered in a robbery-gone-wrong in Mexico. Yesterday, it was confirmed that two bodies found in a torched van on a dirt road in Sinaloa, Mexico, belong to the missing surfers.
Coleman and Lucas started their trip in Edmonton, Canada, and planned on driving Guadalajara to meet with friends. When they never arrived, their friends and family began the desperate search. A few days later, when Mexican authorities found the van and established that it was the one the missing men were driving in, they assumed the worst. While they still held out hope, they prepared themselves for the worst, taking DNA samples to Mexico in order to find closure.

Mexican police have made three arrests in relation to the murders. According to them, the suspects were posing as police officers and robbing travelers along the Mexico-Nogales highway. When Coleman and Lucas resisted, one of the suspects “shot a long-haired tourist in the face.” Afterwards, they killed the other man, then drove the van to a more secluded area and set fire to it with the bodies inside.
A few days ago, paddle outs were held in Mexico, Australia, and the United States for Coleman and Lucas. Our sincerest condolences to the friends and families.
