The Inertia

There’s a unique flavor of voyeurism in professional surfing that doesn’t exist in other sports. Surfers going surfing isn’t exactly a once in a lifetime occurrence — it’s what they do for a living — but the Average Joe would be lying if he said his curiosity wasn’t piqued when a gaggle of CT pros shows up in the water without jerseys, not surfing in heats, and let it go in a scenario where wave scores aren’t on the line.

This is what happens at every tour stop and clearly, it never gets old for the random passersby who spots John John (or pick your favorite CT pro) and instantly makes the quick photo request. But to the true World Tour super fan, these super sessions with a lineup packed full of competitors are a chance to see who’s got what going into Keramas this week. If you’re a fantasy surf fanatic, take this as a chance to overthink and second guess that lineup you just set for the Corona Bali Protected.
