They say one man’s junk is another man’s treasure, and the latest installment of that adage comes to us from Santa Barbara alternative board enthusiast and perennial stand out Trevor Gordon. Close to his home, an old boat sat abandoned, presumed damaged in a wreck, never to hit the water again. To Gordon, though, that represented a challenge: could it be rebuilt to be even better than it once was? He aimed to find out.
After 1,000 hours of work, with friends, Gordon christened the vessel Camel and booked it up to British Columbia with his buddy Tosh in search of surf accessible only by boat. When they arrived, the thing luckily floated and during Camel’s maiden voyage, the vessel carted the pair to some pretty enjoyable surf.
