Florida is underwater. Parts of the state have experienced widespread flooding, leading to the unusual sight of aquatic life swimming through city streets – including at least one shark.
Days of torrential rain led to a state of emergency in the Sunshine State this week. Floodwaters created widespread damage and disruption, including washed out roads, water outages and closed schools. At least two deaths occurred in Palm Bay, as Mayor Rob Medina confirmed.
A side effect of all that chaos and destruction was that the flooding was so extensive, it allowed aquatic life to roam the city streets. In Fort Pierce, Florida, a small shark was spotted swimming through an intersection.
“I was on my way to pick my daughter up from school before the storm got worse. I noticed something moving in the water in the flooded street, so I began recording and realized it was a shark,” Franshara Napoleon told Storyful. “I was in disbelief.”
